John Flynn is a writer and actor currently living in New York City. His writing has been published in the NY Daily News and in the sexual mishap anthology, Worst Laid Plans. He performs stand-up all over New York and is well known in the storytelling scene, having appeared at The Moth GrandSLAM, Andy Christie’s Liar Show, Sherry Weaver’s Speakeasy Stories, TOLD, Stripped Stories, RISK, True Tales from College, and Schadenfreude.
His one man show, Dances With Pitchforks: Confessions of a Farm Boy, sold out runs at Joe’s Pub, Caroline’s Comedy Club, and Don’t Tell Mama, where it won the Backstage Bistro Award for Outstanding Comedy. He has written and performed many shows at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theater in both New York and Los Angeles, including Showgirls: The Best Movie Ever Made. Ever!, Nights of Our Lives, ASSSSCAT, Project: Improviser, and Themepark Superstar.He received a B.F.A. in Theater Arts from Hofstra University after transferring from Bard College where one of his final exams consisted of him smoking a joint and dancing with a tree. Since arriving in New York City, he has performed with and written for many wonderful and crazy people including RuPaul, Oksana Baiul, Frank DeCaro, Amy Poehler, Michael Musto, Jack McBrayer, Cyndi Lauper, Rob Corrdry, Bobby Moynihan, Deborah Gibson, and Betty Buckley. One year he dressed up as Tim Gunn for Halloween and he recommends you try it, at least once.
