In 2006, I produced a reality series that explored the world of long form improvisation for the internet called Project: Improviser. Over the course of two months, nine up-and-coming improvisers participated in various challenges, rehearsals, and performances for packed crowds and a panel of judges. Each week they struggled to incorporate the judges' notes and become better improvisers or risk getting "tagged out."
Season One contestants were Sean Clements, Greg DeSantis, John Frusciante, Marcy Jarreau, Peter McNerney, Cody Melton, Beth Newell, Nate Smith, and Nick Zimmerman.
Serving as coaches and judges were Chris Gethard, Zach Woods, Jackie Clarke, Anthony King, Jason Mantzoukas, Chris Kula, Billy Merritt, Charlie Todd, and Hot Sauce boys Gil Ozeri, Adam Pally, and Ben Schwartz.
